Woke up with a slight buzz in my head. Alcohol mayhem from the night before. Somehow regretting not drinking more fluid and/or having a slice of pizza before bed. But it all came as no surprise.
The day was pleasant with temperatures hitting the upper 20s. And I was at the post office settling a postident. Postident is alien to me but it is quite common here in Germany. It's a form of security whereby one identifies himself at the post office (or through a postman). This usually takes place when you apply for a credit card or when you're opening some account. Fraud prevention I suppose. And the main post office here in Goettingen is located at Heinrich-v-Stephan-Str 1-5.
The concept of a postbank (post office cum bank) however, is no stranger to me. Located just outside of the Goettingen Hauptbahnhof, one can withdraw money, get a statement of your account, keep your valuables at the safe deposits, buy some stationeries, or do whatever it is you do at a post office/bank.
When evening came, I was back at the Bahnhof to pick up my special someone. This was done with the bike I bought from the funny Lebanese man. It is quite a solid bike really (probably the reason I bought it) with a rear rack. And with that, hauling some weight came as second nature. In this particular case—my special friend :). It's funny how in Goettingen, people don't do that sitting behind the bike thing. It's so common in the Netherlands. But the rear racks out here do look quite flimsy. Not the sort on the bikes in Holland. And makes me feel happy somewhat to be doing that right now with my bike.
So we set off to grab dinner at a nice place in the city recommended by my buddy. The place is called simply, Nudelhaus. Located at a corner lot sitting at the crossroads of Rote Straße and Jüdenstraße. One cannot miss the place. From the Gänseliesel, just walk straight eastwards past Karstadt Sports on the right and you will arrive at the place at the end of the row on the left.
This being a noodle house, one can find all sorts of pastas (basically noodle menus). I tried their rigatoni which had an assortment of cheese and vegetables on it. And it was great. Best pasta I had in a while (probably in a long while or ever). Price was okay for a place like this. A plate of "noodle" average between €5 to €9. And beer was priced at €2.90 for a 0.4L Veltins.
Update:
I was told that sitting behind the bicycle whilst another peddles is against the law in Germany. Hence, the answer to why people don't do it here.
